Tesla inspired non-ojective art
CASIMIR EFFECT is a "Force From Nothing" in Quantum Field Theory (QFT) & Quantum Electrodynamics (QED):
In physics, the Casimir Effect describes the potential for time travel by creating a quantized field. The physical force is generated between two barely-separated uncharged metallic plates in a vacuum. There is no measurable electromagnetic field between the plates, but in QED the plates affect the VIRTUAL PHOTONS of the vacuum potential or ZERO POINT ENERGY. The vacuum is not empty.
Virtual particles at GROUND ZERO interact with objects through perturbation, altering the vacuum expectation value with Casimir force. Theoretically, this vacuum energy opens a locally mass-negative region of space-time, wormholes that might potentiate time travel. It remains to be seen whether such harmonic oscillators create transversible wormholes.
Negative energy has some bizarre properties, but physicists claim a big enough electromagnet could create a black hole that would be a portal to another universe -- but it's a one-way trip because the portal is unstable. Casimir energy keeps the portal open. Practically, it can be used to reduce friction on nanomachines to zero facilitating quantum levitation.
The Navel of the World
Symbolically, we might consider this 'altar' of the soul, if not a physical transporter, a portal for imaginal journeys for the astral body and thought-experiments for the mental body. We might even consider the homonym 'alter' as a variation describing the nature of parallel worlds.
The altar is a primordial symbol of transformation, a feminine symbol, the womb of nature (Vesica Pisces), or crucible which can mean sacrifice, consecration or transubstantiation. It is the place where consciousness meets the sacred dimension of the unconscious, where the Holy Grail of the heart opens to higher power, the source of plenty.

The plenum of the vacuum potential mirrors this felt-sense in a metaphysical reality, where earth mirrors heaven. The Void is not empty but sings us a siren-song from the Abyss. All points of light emerge spontaneously from the photonic radiation of virtual photon flux. When science seeks Ground Zero, our quest becomes a penetration of the depths of Nature and our own nature, a marriage of opposites.
The altar is not only a Wayback Machine but a Wayforward spiritual technology -- a cosmic Mandala. Reality blurs at the altar, totalizing and unifying. We worship there demonstrating our faith in the Beyond, and it changes us utterly, instantaneously, manifesting our full potential, NowHere.
In the soul's symbolic language, it is the place of harmonic proportions or formative power, where we make an offering of our old selves for rebirth. Our bodies are the ultimate magickal altars, all the way down to our vacuum potential, the cosmological constant that unites us all.
The Energy Body or photonic body of virtual photon flux is unbound by the psychophysical parameters of ordinary consciousness. In this sense, we can project our consciousness instantaneously to the ends of the Multiverse.

DARPA is soliciting innovative research proposals in the area of Casimir Effect Enhancement (Solicitation number DARPA-BAA-08-59. The goal of this program is to develop new methods to detect, control and dynamically manipulate (i.e. switch on and off) attractive and repulsive forces at surfaces based on engineering of the Casimir Force. One could leverage this ability to control phenomena such as adhesion in nanodevices, drag on vehicles and many other interactions of interest to the DoD.

Charging or energizing of the Homunculus—the emergent Rotundum. The inner man, the homunculus passes through the stages and undergoes transformation. Psychologically, it is analogous to self-reparenting, and materializing archetypal forms. Understanding appears as if it were a “conception.” The Homunculus is the product of the Royal Marriage of Sun and Moon, and is equivalent to the lapis or anthropos. In the ancient art of alchemy, the soul is depicted as a homunculus or “small man.” It is symbolically equivalent to the Elixir or Universal Medicine. It personifies the unconscious as an inner man, a hermaphroditic being, a spirit in a bottle, a “brain child.” Zosimos and Paracelsus spoke of the homunculus as devouring himself, and giving birth to himself—the death/rebirth necessary for casting off the old and inviting in the new self image. The paradoxical image typically appears before dissolution of the center into its unconscious element—the undifferentiated consciousness of the ground state. In alchemy, the homunculus is sort of a primal “test-tube baby,” created through a dynamic process in the Hermetically-sealed retort vessel. Dr. Frankenstein never had it so good. It feeds daily on the hidden mysteries of nature. Psychologically, this process is the creation of renewal of spirit, which takes place in the psyche when psychic contents are prevented from “leaking out” and being lost. “Heating” is symbolic of amplifying or intensifying the transformative process. In terms from chaos theory, magnetizing the entity, an ancient prescription, might insinuate the formation of a strange attractor as the complex core of the system. An attractor describes a temporary stability far from equilibrium. The homunculus is the archetype of the magical child. It is thus an embryonic symbol of rebirth, or re-creation of self by Self. In alchemy, the homunculus is generated by a succession of transformations through the four elements to reach its essential nature. The elements of fire, earth, air and water are analogous to spiritual, physical, mental and emotional life.

AESTHETIC ARREST vs. SOFA ART
"The object becomes aesthetically significant when it becomes metaphysically significant." (Joseph Campbell)
Mythologist, Joseph Campbell was one of those thinkers who constantly asked himself, "What is the meaning of this?" In books, lectures and interviews, he made frequent skirmishes into the field of art. And like a lot of those who never took brush to hand, his thoughts were idealized and sometimes muddled. Campbell had attitudes about what was "proper" art and what was not. He thought the personal was dangerous in art. "When an artist's images are purely personal this finally is slop and you know it when you see it," he stated. He didn't often say what "slop" was. He was particularly hard on portraiture--he thought portraits were hobbled by the need to be what they represented.
At the same time, many of Campbell's insights are valuable. Campbell saw everything through a lens of myth, metaphor and the metaphysical. He saw "proper" artists as exalted mystics.
"The way of the mystic and the way of the artist," he said, "are very much alike--except that the mystic does not have a craft." In admiration, he realized that through studio disciplines, artists deal with universals. He named a lot of these universals--from rhythmic patterns to a sense of wonder.
He felt that proper art had to be an art that performs a function. When this function is added to the concept of kinesis (movement), then you have what he called "aesthetic arrest." By this he meant that the innocent viewer is stopped dead in his tracks and has no choice but to stare in awe.
It is in his understanding of St. Thomas Aquinas that we see the Campbell mind at work. Aquinas thought that proper art had three modes: Integritas, Convenientia, and Claritas. Integritas means wholeness. Campbell demonstrated this in his lectures by putting a picture frame up to a chair and isolating it from its surroundings--making it a thing in itself. Convenientia is the way the chair is arranged within the frame: creatively, sensitively, thoughtfully cropped or monumentalized. Claritas is the "aha" quality that puts meaning into the chair, its significant "chairness." Campbell called this "the tricky part," and noted that only then "are you are held in aesthetic arrest." This is not just "viewfinder thinking," but what he considers the top level of creativity. In his view it is a profound application of aesthetic arrangement and metaphorical thought that squeezes out the real meaning and value of the things of our experience.
